A successful year puts Well Met firmly on the conferencing and events map
November 2009
Well Met Conferencing at Leeds Met University is celebrating a bumper 2009 following the introduction of three new impressive venues; an increase in high profile events and a rise in revenue of 130% year on year. All this adds to a number of previous successes including the opening of the award-winning Rose Bowl in April 2009.
The exciting addition of Carnegie Village, Broadcasting Place and Queenswood to Well Met's already existing portfolio of venues will enable them to host a wider range of conferences and events. Queenswood, Well Met's most recent addition offers conference organisers an intimate location for corporate meetings through premium quality living space; the new state of the art halls of residence Carnegie Village offers high-specification, all year round residential conference facilities; the £54 million state of the art, Faculty of Arts & Society building - Broadcasting Place - is an iconic new addition to Well Met's Civic Quarter Campus.
The introduction of the new venues has attracted a wide range of high profile events including LG Communications, who hosted a 2 and a half day conference for 250; the NHS, which attracted over 200 guests to an exhibition on NHS departments; Edxcel held various training courses for their employees, and the Northern Ballet Theatre are due to host their fundraising dinner for 260 at the Rose Bowl on the 12th December 2009. In 2010, the Carnegie Village will also see 200 students attend for 6-8 weeks, with access to the Centre's world-class sporting facilities.
Kate Pitcher, Business Development Manager, for Well Met Conferencing said:
"It has been an incredible year for Well Met Conferencing and our venue portfolio continues to grow at an impressive rate. With the addition of three further venues to our collection we are able to attract a wider range of conferences and events. The success of the Rose Bowl opening earlier in the year as well as the three new additions has ensured we have a continuous programme of events. Bookings have never been better and we are looking forward to this continuing in 2010."
As well as the new additions Well Met Conferencing's success comes from an already varied and exciting venue portfolio. Other venues in the collection include the striking Rose Bowl, a state of the art dedicated space for conferences and events; the refurbished Gandhi Hall, which provides a large flexible space that can house formal dinners and receptions for up to 400: the historic James Graham building set at the Headingley Campus; and the Old School Board, set in the heart of the city overlooking Millennium Square.
