Festive market raises funds for Douglas Macmillan Hospice
December 2009
Douglas Macmillan Hospice received a much-needed boost to its funds this week thanks to the festive Christmas market held at Keele Hall.
Fifty per cent of ticket sales were donated to the charity raising a staggering £2,166 from the market which was held at the end of November.
Visitors helped the Hospice, whilst also enjoying the market's exhibits and stalls, a Santa's grotto and live cookery demonstrations.
The funds, which were formally presented to the charity this week, will go towards helping the hospice support and care for adults facing cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, and their families.
Zoe Hollingsworth, senior fundraising development manager, said: "Everyone at the Douggie Mac is over the moon with the amount of money that was raised at the market - we rely purely on donations such as this to provide care for local people and their families, so we are extremely grateful to everyone who came along to the event, and to Keele Hall who helped us stage such a fantastic event."
Marcus Wilson, Deputy Head of Keele Conferences, said: "We are thrilled that the Christmas market raised as much money as it did, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came along and supported such a wonderful cause. We couldn't have raised this money without you - not only was it a great day, but the money raised will go towards helping many people."
