Triple Delight for VENUEMASTERS
October 2010

VENUEMASTERS is delighted to announce a trio of new members; Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, the University of Dundee and Middlesex University. A record number of 16 venues have now signed up since the start of the membership year in April.

Queen Margaret University (QMU) is situated to the east of Edinburgh city centre, by Musselburgh. It is set within 35 acres of beautiful landscaped grounds with excellent transport links; the train from Edinburgh Waverley takes only six minutes. The new QMU campus is regarded as one of Scotland's most sustainable building projects. The modern facilities can accommodate 2 to 250 delegates and there is a choice of 35 seminar rooms, four lecture theatres, labs, studios and outdoor spaces. Day meetings can be accommodated all year round and residential events during the summer months.

The University of Dundee is situated in the city's lively cultural quarter within walking distance of the centre and close to both the railway station and airport. There are frequent rail and air services into Dundee from London, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Belfast. The main focus for conferencing is the Dalhousie building. Opened in 2007 this state-of-the-art facility can seat up to 350 delegates and has 20 breakout rooms plus ideal spaces for exhibitions and receptions. The University can accommodate events during the vacation periods and at weekends.

Middlesex University is conveniently located close to the centre of London but also within easy reach from others parts of the country. Its flagship campus is in the hilly suburb of Hendon. The Hendon College building is in the style of H.W. Burchett and opened in 1939. It includes a glass covered courtyard, named the Rickett Quadrangle, perfect for any occasion. The venue can host a range of events for up to 350 delegates. The University can accommodate events during vacation periods and at evenings and weekends.

Sarah Milton, Sales and Events Manager at Middlesex University commented; ‘I chose VENUEMASTERS because they understand the unique capabilities of a university venue and they are able to attract customers and clients who appreciate the benefits of hosting a conference or event in an academic environment. The support you receive not only from the team but also from other venues will prove valuable in setting up the new venture at Middlesex. The aim of joining is to start getting the Middlesex name out there for event organisers.'

VENUEMASTERS Chief Executive, Terry Billingham commented; ‘we've had a fantastic response to the new membership structure, demonstrated in the high number of new venues. This also means increased choice for event organisers with a wide range of facilities in over 40 locations across the UK. Competitive rates, value for money and the wide choice offered by academic venues continues to attract an increasing number of event enquiries.'
