Celebrations for VENUEMASTERS Award Winners
November 2010
VENUEMASTERS is pleased to announce the results of its annual awards. Awards were presented to the winner of the annual Mystery Buyer Research, plus there were commendations for the venues in second and third place. The venues that had won industry awards during the year were also recognised.
The winner of the VENUEMASTERS Mystery Buyer Research Project was Event Durham. This is the third year in a row that Event Durham has won the award. The University of Leeds were second and Nottingham Conferences third. Each member receives an event enquiry from an independent agency and is scored on all aspects of the enquiry process.
Helen Strangward, Commercial Director, Durham University said; ‘I am absolutely delighted that for the third year in a row we have won the Mystery Buyer Survey. This award reflects the hard work and dedication of the whole Event Durham team and recognises our continuing commitment to providing an excellent product, supported by the highest standards possible in customer service. We will now have to invest in a bigger trophy cabinet!'
Academic venues have had numerous successes at industry awards events in the past year and their achievements were recognised at the event. There were 13 venues in attendance that had informed the VENUEMASTERS team via press releases of one or more industry accolades. These were across a variety of categories including ‘Best Conference Venue', ‘Outstanding Customer Service' and ‘Vegetarian Society Chef of the Future'.
The awards were announced during the gala dinner at the VENUEMASTERS annual conference on 4 November 2010. The event was held at Nottingham Conference Centre, part of Nottingham Trent University, and attended by over 100 delegates.
Terry Billingham, VENUEMASTERS Chief Executive, commented; "I'd like to congratulate Durham University on their Mystery Buyer success for the third successive time. It is also an opportunity for venues to develop their enquiry service. Our members are increasingly winning numerous industry awards which highlights the quality of facilities, service and value for money being offered. This is helping to raise the profile of academic venues in a really positive way.
