Melvyn Bragg Opens New £27m Residence
December 2010

The University of Leeds' new £27m residence, Storm Jameson Court, was officially opened by Lord Melvyn Bragg on 14th December, by unveiling a building plaque dedicated to Margaret Storm Jameson.

Storm Jameson, born in 1891, was a graduate of the University and wrote more than 50 novels. She died in 1986. The event was attended by her three grandchildren. Storm Jameson Court is a hotel-style building offering 460 en suite double bedrooms.

Richard Handscombe, Head of Sales and Marketing in Commercial Services commented;

"conference bookings for this new building are very strong, and feedback is 100% positive. One organiser has already commented that in his experience, Storm Jameson Court is the highest standard of accommodation available at any University; music to our ears!".
