Stands Sell Out for 2011 Academic Venue Show
March 2011
VENUEMASTERS is pleased to announce that all the stands have now been sold for the 2011 Academic Venue Show, which takes place on 11 May at the Emirates Stadium in London. Following a successful show in 2010 which saw a 14% increase in visitors, exhibitors have been keen to sign up and there will now be 46 venues at what is set to be another great event.
New venues for 2011 include London Metropolitan University, University of Sussex, University of Limerick in the Republic of Ireland and University Autònoma of Barcelona in Spain. The University Autònoma of Barcelona is signing up to membership of the consortium from 1 April. This is an exciting time for the group as they look to expand further into Europe.
Assumpta Cross, director at the University Autònoma of Barcelona, commented;
‘We are very enthusiastic about participating in the 2011 Academic Venue Show. We have great expectations in two main senses: firstly to contact as many companies, associations and institutions as possible that are interested in placing their future events in Barcelona. Our second aim is to contact other universities from the UK in order to exchange experiences and learn from each other.'
Keynote speaker Alastair Campbell is currently proving very popular with visitors registering to attend the event. Alastair is a writer, communicator and strategist best known for his role as former British Prime Minister Tony Blair's spokesman. Still active in Labour politics, he now splits his time between writing, speaking, charitable fundraising, politics and campaigns. The opening speaker for the event is Austen Hawkins, who has a wealth of experience in the events industry and is currently CEO at FaceTime, Events Industry Alliance and F2F Events.
The exhibiting venues will be promoting the wide range of meeting and group accommodation facilities they can offer event organisers at very competitive rates. The venues are from a variety of city centre, rural and coastal locations across the UK, Republic of Ireland and Spain. This is a unique opportunity as many of the venues do not exhibit at any other industry events.
Due to popular demand, the event will once again be taking place at the stunning Emirates Stadium, home of Arsenal Football Club. The show website contains details of the itinerary for the day including seminar times, location and access information, visitor testimonials, plus a DVD and images of last year's show to give visitors a flavour of the event.
VENUEMASTERS chief executive, Terry Billingham, says: ‘We're really pleased with the interest and excitement for the 2011 show from exhibitors. The 2010 event was a great success for us at a difficult time for the industry, and we are looking to build on that this year. The addition of venues in the Republic of Ireland and Spain adds a new element to the show, plus the interest in keynote speaker Alastair Campbell is creating a real buzz. The team is really looking forward to the show and we all feel positive this will be the best one yet.'
