November 2011
Held from Wednesday 2 to Friday 4 of November 2011 in Edinburgh, the Venuemasters annual conference and AGM was a roaring success. With over 100 delegates representing 50 academic venues, the conference was a sold-out affair based around the theme of "First Impressions to Last Impression - How The Customer Experience Can Help Grow Your Business."
The conference started strongly with a welcome from the Venuemasters chairman, Emma Boynton, who set the stage for the speakers that followed. Geoff Ramm shared insightful and amusing anecdotes about the importance of achieving excellence in customer service, whilst Adrian Webster gave an energetic and emotive speech full of humorous and heartfelt stories illustrating what impact TNTs (Tiny Noticeable Things) can have on businesses and customers. Michelle Mone, OBE closed the conference on the Friday with a passionate speech which provided an honest and open account of her journey to becoming one of the most successful businesswomen in the world.
The conference also had informative workshops and sessions on a range of subjects, including how social media can benefit academic venues, how regions can work together to generate business, and interactive sessions that allowed members to experience new, forward thinking approaches to providing exceptional customer service.
Feedback from attendees was universally positive; 96% said that the speakers were excellent, 97% said it was great for networking, and 98% said that the overall conference experience was superb.
